Setting up low inventory alerts
Merch Cat can send you a push notification and email whenever an item's stock drops to or below a threshold you set. This keeps you from running out of a hot-selling item mid-tour without warning.
How to set an alert threshold
- Open the Merch Cat app or log in to the web portal.
- Go to Items and tap or click the item you want to configure.
- In the item edit screen, find the Low Inventory Alert field.
- Enter the quantity at which you want to be alerted (e.g., 5 means you'll get a notification when stock hits 5 or below).
- Save the item.
When does the alert fire?
Each time a fan order is placed through Merch Cat Fan and the item's quantity on hand is decremented, the system checks whether the new count is at or below your threshold. If so, it:
- Sends a push notification to all your registered artist app devices.
- Sends an email to the address on your account.
You won't be spammed — the alert fires on every qualifying sale, so if you've set a threshold of 5 you'll get notified when stock hits 5, then again at 4, 3, and so on. Raise the threshold or restock to stop the alerts.
Making sure push notifications are enabled
Alerts only reach your iPhone if you've allowed notifications for the Merch Cat app. Go to Settings → Notifications → Merch Cat and make sure Allow Notifications is on.
