Connecting Square for payments
Merch Cat uses Square to process in-person payments at shows. You'll need a Square account before connecting.
Requirements
- A Square account (free at squareup.com)
- A Square card reader (Square Reader or Square Terminal)
- Merch Cat app installed on your device
Connect Square in the app
- Open the Merch Cat app and tap Settings.
- Tap Connect Square.
- You'll be redirected to Square to authorise Merch Cat. Log in with your Square credentials.
- Tap Allow to grant access.
- You'll return to Merch Cat — your Square account is now linked.
Tip: Make sure you connect the Square account that holds the location you sell from. If you have multiple Square locations, choose the right one in Settings after connecting.
Importing your Square customers
Once connected, you can import your existing Square customer list directly into Merch Cat Fan. This pulls contact details for everyone who has bought from you at shows via Square and adds them to your fan list.
To trigger a sync, go to Fans → Import from Square in the artist portal.
Troubleshooting
If the connection fails, try logging out of Square in your browser first, then reconnect. If problems persist, contact support.
